NEW HAVEN POLICE ARREST SUSPECT IN TUESDAY SLASHING
(10/19/2007) NEW HAVEN- Earlier this evening, New Haven Police detectives, with the assistance of the Milford Police Department, arrested 41-year-old Stephen Ogman, 183 Franklin Street, New Haven in connection with the slashing incident that occurred at 770 Chapel Street, on Tuesday, October 16. Ogman was working in Milford at the time of his arrest. During that incident, 41-year-old Michael Forte, a resident of Newington, received a box-cutter wound to the neck.
New Haven Police detectives have been working around the clock to identify the suspect responsible for the attack. This evening, information was received that led the detectives to Ogman. Through diligent police work, cooperation from the victim and witness accounts, Ogman was identified as the person responsible for the attack.
Ogman was taken into custody without incident and has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 1982. Upon his arrest, Ogman was charged with Assault in the First degree and Reckless Endangerment in the First degree.
Detectives Clarence Willoughby, Reginald Sutton, Angela Augustine-Daye and Herbert Johnson are credited with the arrest of Ogman.
